How buying and checkout work on IVOTIA

Learn how IVOTIA checkout works for products and services, how addresses and delivery are handled, and what happens after you place and pay for an order.

Before you check out

You must be signed in to continue to checkout on IVOTIA. If you are not signed in, IVOTIA sends you to the login page and returns you to checkout after login.

Checkout can start from your cart or from a Buy Now flow on a listing page. The exact items, quantities, and seller details are carried into the checkout screen automatically.

Product and service orders both go through IVOTIA checkout, but product orders may require shipping details while service orders usually do not.

Products vs services at checkout

Product orders use a physical-delivery checkout path when the item requires shipping. In that case, IVOTIA asks for a delivery address and shows shipping-related charges before payment.

Service orders use a simpler checkout path because there is no shipping destination. You still review the service, price, seller, and payment method before placing the order.

Both product and service checkout flows create escrow-backed orders when payment succeeds.

Addresses and delivery details

For product orders, IVOTIA can use one of your saved addresses or let you add a new checkout address before paying.

The current checkout address flow supports country selection and structured address details. The checkout UI currently supports the main shipping country set used by IVOTIA, including Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Nigeria, and Ghana.

Shipping costs and availability are calculated during checkout for physical items. The final shipping amount is confirmed there, not on the listing card alone.

Reviewing the order before payment

Before you pay, IVOTIA shows the item or service, seller, quantity where relevant, subtotal, shipping if applicable, and the final amount to be charged.

If you are checking out from the cart, you review the full cart order. If you used Buy Now, you review the single-item order that was prepared for immediate checkout.

This is the best time to confirm your delivery details, payment method, and total amount before continuing.

How payment and escrow work

When you place an order successfully, IVOTIA creates an escrow order rather than immediately releasing funds to the seller.

For products, the backend creates a product escrow order. For services, the backend creates a service escrow order.

Escrow is designed to protect the transaction while the order is being fulfilled. The order moves through its normal delivery or completion flow before funds are released under IVOTIA’s order rules.

After you place the order

After successful checkout, the order appears in your account order area. From there, you can follow progress, review delivery or completion status, and take any order actions that are available for that stage.

Product orders continue through shipping and delivery states. Service orders continue through the service delivery and review flow.

If payment is not completed, the order does not move into the normal paid fulfillment flow.

Important things to know

You must be logged in to complete checkout.

Product checkout may require a delivery address and shipping confirmation.

Service checkout usually does not require shipping information.

The final shipping total is confirmed during checkout.

Successful IVOTIA checkout creates an escrow-backed order, not an instant seller payout.
