How to add and verify your phone number

Add a phone number from your profile, request a verification code, and complete the current IVOTIA phone-verification flow with the correct limits and retry rules.

Disclaimer: This article reflects the current IVOTIA phone-verification flow in the profile page. Delivery channel and exact wording can change, but the expiry, resend, and failed-attempt limits described here match the current implementation.

Before you start

IVOTIA lets you add and verify a phone number from your Account > Profile page.

The phone flow uses a one-time verification code, and the code only becomes valid for your account after you enter it correctly.

Add or change your phone number

Open the phone section in your profile and choose Add phone or Change phone.

Enter the number you want to use, then complete the captcha before requesting the verification code.

    Select Send code.

What happens after you request the code

If the request succeeds, IVOTIA sends a 6-digit verification code to the phone number you entered and switches the phone section into verification mode.

The code currently expires after about 5 minutes. IVOTIA also starts a resend cooldown, so you usually need to wait 60 seconds before requesting another code.

Verify the code

Enter the 6-digit code in the phone verification field and choose Verify code.

After successful verification, IVOTIA saves the phone number to your account and marks it as verified.

    Type the 6-digit verification code exactly as received.

    Choose Verify code.

    Return to the profile page and confirm the verified status.

If the code is wrong, expired, or delayed

If the code is incorrect, IVOTIA tells you and tracks the failed attempt count for that verification session.

If the code expires, IVOTIA asks you to request a new one instead of continuing with the old code.

    You currently get up to 5 incorrect attempts before IVOTIA temporarily blocks more verification tries.

    After too many wrong attempts, the current block period is about 30 minutes.

    If the code never arrives, wait for the resend timer and request another code.

    If the phone number changes while you are verifying, cancel and restart the flow with the correct number.

Important things to know

    The phone number must not already be attached to another IVOTIA account.
  2. 2
    You need to complete the captcha before IVOTIA will send the verification code.
  3. 3
    The resend action is rate-limited, so rapid repeated requests will not work.
  4. 4
    If verification keeps failing, restart the phone flow instead of reusing an older code.
  5. 5
    A verified phone number helps with account recovery and communication, so keep it current in your profile.
